Cruel April wants to keep guitar-centric rock music front and center, even as other forms of popular music may trend in different directions. The music in our souls is what drives us to write and play. Whether it’s a heartfelt ballad, tongue in cheek commentary, or hard driving rhythm - it’s still rock and roll - and we like it, like it, yes we do!
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PLEDGE: Cruel April pledges not to use any form of artificial intelligence (AI) in the creation of songs, arrangements, or lyrics. You can rest assured that you will be listening to songs composed by real human beings with real thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Feel free to download the logo above.
Cruel April never uses any form of artificial intelligence (AI) for conceptualizing, writing, creating, arranging, and/or performing either lyric writing or musical composition. The ideas for our songs come straight out of the mind of our producer. We may, and often do, employ the use of “samples” from a library of predesigned sounds such as strings, synths, drums, and other sounds, but ultimately, they are programmed or played by real musicians. We do use an AI based “mastering” service, but purely out of convenience and cost necessity. But the essential music creation is done by real human beings.
Our position is that music created with artificial intelligence should not be copyrightable, and indeed the United States Patent and Trademark Office agrees with us – at least as of the time of this writing. But we are worried that could change because AI companies are arguing that using publicly available music for machine learning should be considered “fair use”. We strongly disagree.
Our links page to online articles about Artificial Intelligence has been removed. The articles are currently being published at a rate that is nearly impossible to keep up with. And we are certain you are smart enough to know where to find them.
A crowd gathers to burn our music!
One of our listeners had to be hospitalized after listening to "Holy Roller"
Pretty soon this guy will be writing the music!
